Sealed Bids: Houston County will accept sealed proposals for the Talton Road Widening project at
the Houston County Public Works Department, 2018 Kings Chapel Road, Perry, Georgia, 31069
until 10:00 A.M. local time on September 21, 2023. At the expiration of time for receipt of bids, all
responsive bids will be opened and publicly read aloud. No bid may be withdrawn after the closing
time for the receipt of bids for a period of sixty (60) calendar days.
Project Description: The proposed construction consists of furnishing all materials and
equipment and performing all labor necessary to complete the Talton Road Widening (project
roadway length is 0.559 miles). Work includes grading, curb & gutter, sidewalk, base placement,
paving (including overlay), storm drainage, and the implementation of the erosion, sediment, and
pollution control plan and comprehensive monitoring program. Further work includes installation of
and Water Mains and Sanitary Sewer Force Main. All work shall be in accordance with the Georgia
Department of Transportation standard specifications and supplemental specifications (latest edition),
the Georgia Manual for Erosion and Sediment Control (latest edition), and Houston County.
Mandatory Pre-Bid: A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for September 07, 2023 at
the Houston County Public Works Office, 2018 Kings Chapel Road, Perry, Georgia 31069. The
meeting will begin at 10:00 A.M.
Prequalification of Bidder: All bidders must hold a current Georgia Department of
Transportation Certificate of Qualification. The bidder’s Georgia Utility Contractor’s License
Number and E-Verify Number shall also be marked on the outside of the bid envelop.
The proposed construction will be awarded in one contract.
Plans, Specifications, and Contract Documents: Plans, specifications, and contract
documents are available for review at the Houston County Public Works Department, during regular
business hours. Copies may be obtained from R. K. SHAH & ASSOCIATES, INC. 970 Peachtree

$ 400.00 for each set (non-refundable).
Bonds: All bids must be accompanied by a Bid Bond in the amount not less than ten percent (10%)
of the Total Base Bid. Performance and Payment Bond, each in the amount of one hundred percent
(100%) of the total contract amount, will be required of the successful bidder. Bonds must be written
by an acceptable Surety Company licensed to do business in the State of Georgia and listed in the
Department of Treasury, Circular 570, latest edition.
Permits: The successful bidder shall secure and pay for all permits, assessments, charges or fees
required in connection with the proposed construction.
Right of Way / Easements: All anticipated rights of way and easements required for the
project have been obtained or will be obtained prior to the bid opening
