The County desires to contract with a highly qualified architect to develop initial drawings, preliminary specifications for renovation of an existing County Detention Facility, and cost estimates. Preliminary documents would likely be due by September 10th, 2024, with delivery of cost estimates within four (4) weeks of that date. Final construction drawings and bids for the contractor will be scheduled based on the availability of funds. The architects will also oversee the construction process.

Burke County reserves the right to accept or reject any proposal. The successful firm will not discriminate against any person in accordance with Federal laws and regulations. Once the successful firm has been selected, all revisions to plans, drawings, bid specifications, addendums, etc, necessary to bring the project within budget shall be included in the design fee initially agreed upon by both Burke County and the Architect. Any additional work recommended by the Architect must be approved by the Burke County Board of Commissioners. Standard contracts, with modifications, will be used and architects are required to submit evidence that they are properly licensed and insured.
