Description

The University of Georgia Office of University Architects (Using Agency) on behalf of the Board of Regents of The University System of Georgia (Owner) is soliciting responses from Construction Manager at Risk Firms interested in and capable of providing construction services for the ¿BR-10-2403 ¿Center for Vaccines and Immunology Phase III¿ on the campus of The University of Georgia at Athens, GA.
A project description is provided below:
The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), Building 1070 North Wing was originally constructed in 1974 and was vacated when the Vet Teaching Hospital relocated into a new facility in 2015. As this relocation was being planned, the Office of University Architects, in collaboration with the CVM, developed a reuse plan for this space to support growing research initiatives consistent with USG goals on revitalization of existing infrastructure. This planning resulted in two completed phases of renovations for research laboratories related to vaccines and immunology.
The Center for Vaccines and Immunology Phase III (CVI) is focused on applying translational research in immunology and vaccine development to advance the state of Georgia¿s economic competitiveness in the world market for animal and human health. The programs and research supported by the CVI will progress the entire community and impact the wellbeing of animals and humans alike through the study of immunity and the development of vaccines. The growth within the CVI endeavors to meet the demand for vaccine modeling associated with highly impactful infectious diseases including but not limited to SARS-CoV2 and Malaria. The translational research in the CVI also has applications for the development of cell-based therapies. CVI provides training opportunities for multiple programs throughout undergraduate, graduate, post-doc and the DVM program. This includes but is not limited to 17 graduate students and 3 Post doctorate students. Design and construction of the CVI Phase III will allow the CVM to initiate planned faculty recruiting to support this growing research field within the University of Georgia.
The 6,100sf proposed for the CVI Phase III renovation h
