Description
The City of Alpharetta is accepting proposals from consultants for the design of improvements for stormwater drainage and pedestrian safety along Canton Street from Mayfield Road to Canton Street extension.
Any current City of Alpharetta contracted on-call consultants or consultants who are part of an on-call team currently contracted with the City of Alpharetta will not be considered for this project. Any proposals from said consultants will not be evaluated.
The City expects the design to integrate one or more stormwater management facilities in a manner that augments the capture and infiltration or storage along the corridor. While the primary goal is an increase in overall stormwater capture and infiltration, the project aesthetics and design should align with the existing community and pedestrian safety. The overall approach should follow the context sensitive design methodology.
The overall goal of the project is to lessen impacts of current stormwater runoff through residential properties into an already overly inundated flood prone watershed. The addition of curb and gutter, new storm structures, and sidewalk should be included in the overall design and approach. All new, re-located, or widened sidewalks should be solely limited to the east side of Canton Street. Curb and gutter should be incorporated on both sides of Canton Street where feasible. Curb and Gutter should be designed to fit the overall intent of the project that is aesthetically confluent to the overall design. Curb and Gutter should also consider the effective conveyance of stormwater and the aid in providing pedestrian safety.
The design should not impact any existing specimen trees located along the street and the design should ensure that all specimen trees are protected from any proposed construction. The design should be limited to the existing Right of Way to the extent feasible to the overall design. The design may include the minimization of travel lanes, remo
