The Centers for Disease Contro and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Illumina, Inc, to obtain NextSeq 1000 Sequencing System. The NGSCL is updating its current instrument due to several advantages of the new system, including: 1) ability to sequence longer reads on the newer system (max read length of 300bp reads compared to 150bp with the older system); 2) self-contained sequencing kits which result in zero run-to-run contamination and less maintenance; and 3) cheaper consumables leading to a lower cost of sequencing. This system provides the data output, data quality and versatility needed for investigating DVD pathogens, as well as for collaboration with CORVD for sequencing of SARS-CoV-2 samples and targeted viral metagenomics, which is a priority for the CDC.
This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within four (4) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to contract specialist at uca9@cdc.gov by 12:00pm 11 September, 2023.
